Alison has 20 years experience as an arts administrator and is deeply committed to promoting fine music. She is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium High School and has a Bachelor of Music (Performance) majoring in cello from the South Australian College of Advanced Education which has since amalgamated with the Elder Conservatorium of Music. She is currently completing the Professional Management Program at the Adelaide Graduate School of Business at the University of Adelaide.

Alison is particularly well known to Adelaide audiences as she was the Elder Hall Concert Manager at the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide from 1991 until June 2007. During that time she established one of the most successful lunch hour concert series in Australia. It now has a regular weekly attendance in excess of 500 and attracts performers from across Australia and overseas. ASQ performs twice a year in this high profile series.

Alison has managed a range of special projects including the Beethoven Songline Series, which was a joint venture between the Elder Conservatorium, ASQ and the Adelaide Festival in 2004. All 11 concerts and composer interviews were broadcast live from Elder Hall by ABC Classic FM and the Elder Conservatorium was awarded a Classical Music Award for ‘outstanding contribution by an organization for the promotion of Australian Music’ for this series.

She was also involved in the launch of the Helpmann Academy which featured a joint production of the Berlioz Requiem at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. She managed every aspect of this massive performance which had a choir of 350, an orchestra of 120 and attracted an audience of 5,000.

In January 2007 she was responsible for hosting National Music Camp at the Elder Conservatorium. It was the first time that the camp had been held in Adelaide for 20 years and it was so successful that the organizers have requested to return in 2009.

From 2003 – 2006 Alison was a consultant for Macquarie Trio Australia and worked with Kathryn Selby, the ensemble’s director and pianist, to include Adelaide in its national subscription series.

Although Alison has a wealth of experience working with musicians she started her professional life working across all artistic disciplines. She was a Regional Arts Officer for the Eyre Peninsula Cultural Trust and the South Australian Country Arts Trust from 1988 – 1991. Prior to this appointment she was a member of the highly successful University of Adelaide Cello Ensemble and in 1986/87 toured Europe and gave concerts in Italy, Croatia, Russia and Germany.
